The house
A nineteenth-century city mansion, inhabited by paintings, plants and, recently, guests.

01
A mansion in the Stokstraat quarter
Hondstraat runs from Onze-Lieve-Vrouweplein to the old city wall, in the oldest part of Maastricht. Number 11 was built around 1875 as a home for a Maastricht family: a crisp white facade on the street, and behind it a deeper, richer house with high ceilings, a staircase that catches the light of a stained-glass window and a garden where it is suddenly quiet.

02
What we kept
The marble fireplaces in the rooms, the panelling, the doors with their original fittings, the cast-iron fireback with its acanthus leaves. On the walls hang canvases and prints from the family: Dutch river landscapes, a lady in silk, a Piranesi above a leather chair. The chandeliers were collected, not ordered.
03
What we added
New bathrooms with rain showers and green marble basins. Beds that guests write about. Heating that can cope with four-metre ceilings. Fast Wi-Fi. And a smart door: you receive a personal code before arrival, so you let yourself in whenever suits you, late evening included.

04
Father and daughter
Hotel Lubrecht is run by a father and a daughter. There is no reception desk, but there is a message or a call whenever you need something, and a welcome drink in your room. We opened in the autumn of 2026 and are still working on the details. We take guests' suggestions seriously; most are in place by the following week.
“A wonderful place with so much charm and incredibly warm-hearted hosts.”
Marlis, guest from Germany
